Surah al-Faatihah - (The Opening)ď
The Noble Quran
In the Name of Allâh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
All the praises and thanks be to Allâh, the Lord1 of the âĂlamĂŽn (mankind, jinn and all that exists).
The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
The Only Owner (and the Only Ruling Judge) of the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)
You (Alone) we worship, and You (Alone) we ask for help (for each and everything).
Guide us to the Straight Way.
7. The Way of those on whom You have bestowed Your Grace, not (the way) of those who earned Your Anger (i.e. those who knew the Truth, but did not follow it) nor of those who went astray (i.e. those who did not follow the Truth out of ignorance and error).
âOur Lord! Accept (this service) from usâŚâ (2:127-128)ď
The Noble Quran
127. And (remember) when IbrâhĂŽm (Abraham) and (his son) IsmââĂŽl (Ishmael) were raising the foundations of the House (the Kaâbah at Makkah),(saying), âOur Lord! Accept (this service) from us. Verily! You are the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.â
128. Our Lord! And make us submissive unto You and of our offspring a nation submissive unto You, and show us our Manâsik (all the ceremonies of pilgrimage - Hajj and âUmrah), and accept our repentance. Truly, You are the One Who accepts repentance, the Most Merciful.
âOur Lord! Give us in this world that which is goodâŚâ (2:201)ď
The Noble Quran
201. And of them there are some who say: âOur Lord! Give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and save us from the torment of the Fire!â
âOur Lord! Pour forth on us patience, and set firm our feetâŚâ (2:249-252)ď
The Noble Quran
249. Then when TâlĂťt (Saul) set out with the army, he said: âVerily! Allâh will try you by a river. So whoever drinks thereof, he is not of me, and whoever tastes it not, he is of me, except him who takes (thereof) in the hollow of his hand.â Yet, they drank thereof, all, except a few of them. So when he had crossed it (the river), he and those who believed with him, they said: âWe have no power this day against JâlĂťt (Goliath) and his hosts.â But those who knew with certainty that they were going to meet Allâh, said: âHow often a small group overcame a mighty host by Allâhâs Leave?â And Allâh is with As-SâbirĂťn (the patient).
250. And when they advanced to meet JâlĂťt (Goliath) and his forces, they invoked: âOur Lord! Pour forth on us patience, and set firm our feet and make us victorious over the disbelieving people.â
251. So they routed them by Allâhâs Leave and DâwĂťd (David) killed JâlĂťt (Goliath), and Allâh gave him [DâwĂťd (David)] the kingdom [after the death of TâlĂťt (Saul) and Samuel] and Al-Hikmah (Prophethood), and taught him of that which He willed. And if Allâh did not check one set of people by means of another, the earth would indeed be full of mischief. But Allâh is full of bounty to the âĂlamĂŽn (mankind, jinn and all that exists).
252. These are the Verses of Allâh, We recite them to you (O Muhammad ŘľŮ٠اŮŮŮ ŘšŮŮŮ ŮŘłŮŮ ) in truth, and surely, you are one of the Messengers (of Allâh).
Ayat-ul-KursĂŽ (2:253-255)ď
The Noble Quran
253. Those Messengers! We preferred some of them to others; to some of them Allâh spoke (directly); others He raised to degrees (of honour); and to âĂsâ (Jesus), the son of Maryam (Mary), We gave clear proofs and evidence, and supported him with RĂťh-ul-Qudus [Jibrael (Gabriel)]. If Allâh had willed, succeeding generations would not have fought against each other, after clear Verses of Allâh had come to them, but they differed - some of them believed and others disbelieved. If Allâh had willed, they would not have fought against one another, but Allâh does what He likes.
254. O you who believe! Spend of that with which We have provided for you, before a Day comes when there will be no bargaining, nor friendship, nor intercession. And it is the disbelievers who are the ZâlimÝn (wrong-doers).
255. Allâh! Lâ ilâha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), Al-Hayyul-Qayyum (the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists). Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is he that can intercede with Him except with His Permission? He knows what happens to them (His creatures) in this world, and what will happen to them in the Hereafter. And they will never compass anything of His Knowledge except that which He wills. His KursÎ 1 extends over the heavens and the earth, and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them. And He is the Most High, the Most Great. [This Verse 2:255 is called Ayat-ul-KursÎ]
âOur Lord! Punish us not if we forget or fall into error, âŚâ (2:284-286)ď
The Noble Quran
284. To Allâh belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on the earth, and whether you disclose what is in your ownselves or conceal it, Allâh will call you to account for it. Then He forgives whom He wills and punishes whom He wills. And Allâh is Able to do all things.
285. The Messenger (Muhammad ŘľŮ٠اŮŮŮ ŘšŮŮŮ ŮŘłŮŮ ) believes in what has been sent down to him from his Lord, and (so do) the believers. Each one believes in Allâh, His Angels, His Books, and His Messengers. (They say), âWe make no distinction between one another of His Messengersâ - and they say, âWe hear, and we obey. (We seek) Your Forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the return (of all).â
286. Allâh burdens not a person beyond his scope. He gets reward for that (good) which he has earned, and he is punished for that (evil) which he has earned. âOur Lord! Punish us not if we forget or fall into error, our Lord! Lay not on us a burden like that which You did lay on those before us (Jews and Christians); our Lord! Put not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Pardon us and grant us Forgiveness. Have mercy on us. You are our Maulâ (Patron, Supporter and Protector, etc.) and give us victory over the disbelieving people.â
âOur Lord! Let not our hearts deviate after You have guided usâŚâ (3:7-9)ď
The Noble Quran
7. It is He Who has sent down to you (Muhammad ŘľŮ٠اŮŮŮ ŘšŮŮŮ ŮŘłŮŮ ) the Book (this Qurâân). In it are Verses that are entirely clear, they are the foundations of the Book [and those are the Verses of Al-Ahkâm (commandments), Al-Faraâid (obligatory duties) and Al-Hudud (legal laws for the punishment of thieves, adulterers)]; and others not entirely clear. So as for those in whose hearts there is a deviation (from the truth) they follow that which is not entirely clear thereof, seeking Al-Fitnah (polytheism and trials), and seeking for its hidden meanings, but none knows its hidden meanings save Allâh. And those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say: âWe believe in it; the whole of it (clear and unclear Verses) are from our Lord.â And none receive admonition except men of understanding. (Tafsir At-TabarĂŽ).
8. (They say): âOur Lord! Let not our hearts deviate (from the truth) after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You. Truly, You are the Bestower.â
9. âOur Lord! Verily, it is You Who will gather mankind together on the Day about which there is no doubt. Verily, Allâh never breaks His Promiseâ.
âOur Lord! We have indeed believed, so forgive us our sinsâŚâ (3:14-19)ď
The Noble Quran
14. Beautified for men is the love of things they covet; women, children, much of gold and silver (wealth), branded beautiful horses, cattle and well-tilled land. This is the pleasure of the present worldâs life; but Allâh has the excellent return (Paradise with flowing rivers) with Him.
15. Say: âShall I inform you of things far better than those? For Al-MuttaqĂťn (the pious - See V.2:2) there are Gardens (Paradise) with their Lord, underneath which rivers flow. Therein (is their) eternal (home) and Azwâjun Mutahharatun (purified mates or wives). And Allâh will be pleased with them. And Allâh is All-Seer of the (His) slavesâ.
16. Those who say: âOur Lord! We have indeed believed, so forgive us our sins and save us from the punishment of the Fire.â
17. (They are) those who are patient, those who are true (in Faith, words, and deeds), and obedient with sincere devotion in worship to Allâh. Those who spend [give the Zakât and alms in the Way of Allâh] and those who pray and beg Allâhâs Pardon in the last hours of the night.
18. Allâh bears witness that Lâ ilâha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), and the angels, and those having knowledge (also give this witness); (He always) maintains His creation in Justice. Lâ ilâha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.
19. Truly, the religion with Allâh is Islâm. Those who were given the Scripture (Jews and Christians) did not differ except, out of mutual jealousy, after knowledge had come to them. And whoever disbelieves in the Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allâh, then surely, Allâh is Swift in calling to account.
âOur Lord! Forgive us our sins and our transgressionsâŚâ (3:144-148)ď
The Noble Quran
144. Muhammad (ŘľŮ٠اŮŮŮ ŘšŮŮŮ ŮŘłŮŮ ) is no more than a Messenger, and indeed (many) Messengers have passed away before him. If he dies or is killed, will you then turn back on your heels (as disbelievers)? And he who turns back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to Allâh; and Allâh will give reward to those who are grateful.
145. And no person can ever die except by Allâhâs Leave and at an appointed term. And whoever desires a reward in (this) world, We shall give him of it; and whoever desires a reward in the Hereafter, We shall give him thereof. And We shall reward the grateful.
146. And many a Prophet (i.e. many from amongst the Prophets) fought (in Allâhâs Cause) and along with him (fought) large bands of religious learned men. But they never lost heart for that which did befall them in Allâhâs Way, nor did they weaken nor degrade themselves. And Allâh loves As-SâbirĂťn (the patient).
147. And they said nothing but: âOur Lord! Forgive us our sins and our transgressions (in keeping our duties to You), establish our feet firmly, and give us victory over the disbelieving folk.â
148. So Allâh gave them the reward of this world, and the excellent reward of the Hereafter. And Allâh loves Al-MuhsinÝn (the good-doers - See the footnote of V.3:134 and of V.9:120).
âOur Lord! Forgive us our sins and expiate from us our evil deedsâŚâ (3:190-194)ď
The Noble Quran
190. Verily! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding.
191. Those who remember Allâh (always, and in prayers) standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides, and think deeply about the creation of the heavens and the earth, (saying): âOur Lord! You have not created(all) this without purpose, glory to You! (Exalted are You above all that they associate with You as partners). Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire.
192. âOur Lord! Verily, whom You admit to the Fire, indeed, You have disgraced him; and never will the ZâlimĂťn (polytheists and wrong-doers) find any helpers.
193. âOur Lord! Verily, we have heard the call of one (Muhammad ŘľŮ٠اŮŮŮ ŘšŮŮŮ ŮŘłŮŮ ) calling to Faith: âBelieve in your Lord,â and we have believed. Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and expiate from us our evil deeds, and make us die (in the state of righteousness) along with Al-Abrâr (the pious believers of Islamic Monotheism).
194. âOur Lord! Grant us what You promised unto us through Your Messengers and disgrace us not on the Day of Resurrection, for You never break (Your) Promise.â
âO mankind! Be dutiful to your Lord,âŚâ (4:1)ď
The Noble Quran
1. O mankind! Be dutiful to your Lord, Who created you from a single person (Adam), and from him (Adam) He created his wife [Hawwâ (Eve)], and from them both He created many men and women; and fear Allâh through Whom you demand (your mutual rights), and (do not cut the relations of) the wombs (kinship). Surely, Allâh is Ever an All-Watcher over you.
âO Allâh, our Lord! Send us from the heaven a table spreadâŚâ (5:114)ď
The Noble Quran
114. âĂsâ (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), said: âO Allâh, our Lord! Send us from the heaven a table spread (with food) that there may be for us - for the first and the last of us - a festival and a sign from You; and provide us sustenance, for You are the Best of sustainers.â
âOur Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If You forgive us not,âŚâ (7:23)ď
The Noble Quran
23. They said: âOur Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If You forgive us not, and bestow not upon us Your Mercy, we shall certainly be of the losers.â
âOur Lord! Place us not with the people who are ZâlimĂťnâŚâ (7:47)ď
The Noble Quran
47. And when their eyes will be turned towards the dwellers of the Fire, they will say: âOur Lord! Place us not with the people who are ZâlimĂťn (polytheists and wrong-doers).â
âOur Lord! Judge between us and our people in truthâŚâ (7:89)ď
The Noble Quran
89. âWe should have invented a lie against Allâh if we returned to your religion, after Allâh has rescued us from it. And it is not for us to return to it unless Allâh, our Lord, should will. Our Lord comprehends all things in His Knowledge. In Allâh (Alone) we put our trust. Our Lord! Judge between us and our people in truth, for You are the Best of those who give judgment.â
âOur Lord! Make us not a trial for the folk who are ZâlimĂťnâŚâ (10:85-86)ď
The Noble Quran
85. They said: âIn Allâh we put our trust. Our Lord! Make us not a trial for the folk who are ZâlimĂťn (polytheists and wrong-doers) (i.e. do not make them overpower us).
âAnd save us by Your Mercy from the disbelieving folk.â
âSo (for me) patience is most fitting. And it is Allâh (Alone) Whose help can be soughtâŚâ (12:18)ď
The Noble Quran
18. And they brought his shirt stained with false blood. He said: âNay, but your ownselves have made up a tale. So (for me) patience is most fitting. And it is Allâh (Alone) Whose help can be sought against that (lie) which you describe.â
âI only complain of my grief and sorrow to AllâhâŚâ (12:86)ď
The Noble Quran
86. He said: âI only complain of my grief and sorrow to Allâh, and I know from Allâh that which you know not.
âSay (O Muhammad ŘľŮ٠اŮŮŮ ŘšŮŮŮ Ů ŘłŮŮ ): âThis is my wayâŚâ (12:108)ď
The Noble Quran
108. Say (O Muhammad ŘľŮ٠اŮŮŮ ŘšŮŮŮ Ů ŘłŮŮ ): âThis is my way; I invite unto Allâh (i.e. to the Oneness of Allâh - Islâmic Monotheism) with sure knowledge, I and whosoever follows me (also must invite others to Allâh i.e. to the Oneness of Allâh - Islâmic Monotheism with sure knowledge). And Glorified and Exalted be Allâh (above all that they associate as partners with Him). And I am not of the MushrikĂťn (polytheists, pagans, idolaters and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh; those who worship others along with Allâh or set up rivals or partners to Allâh).â
âO my Lord! Make me one who performs As-Salât⌠Forgive me and my parentsâŚâ (14:40-41)ď
The Noble Quran
40. âO my Lord! Make me one who performs As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât ), and (also) from my offspring, our Lord! And accept my invocation.
41. âOur Lord! Forgive me and my parents, and (all) the believers on the Day when the reckoning will be established.â
